When you engage in health coaching, you’re engaging in partnership. Your coach is a sounding board, support system, brainstorm partner, and information source in your journey to wellness. No two sessions are the same, as no two clients, lives, or stories are the same, but each session follows a consistent format:
Virtual
We utilize the Zoom video conference technology, which provides private, free-of-charge video and audio services. We’ll share with you a link to a Zoom meeting room well prior to your scheduled time. You may use smartphone, iPad or computer to access Zoom. Sessions are NOT recorded.
Client-Paced
A fundamental concept of Functional Medicine Health Coaching is that you, the client, are always in the driver’s seat. Your sessions will focus on YOU, and we’ll discuss whatever situation, goal or opportunity you’d like to focus on. Finally, we listen closely; you’ll find that we listen much more than we talk during a session.
Dynamic
We are trained to cover topics across a broad spectrum of mind-body-spirit wellness topics, and so any given conversation may cover nutrition, exercise, meditation, self-care, or something else entirely. In some cases, we cover a few of these topics in one sitting!
We do want to clarify, however, that our scope of practice starts and stops with coaching. We are not healthcare practitioners, which means we can’t prescribe a diet, medical or fitness solution for you. However, we can support you along a path that you and/or your doctor have identified, or help you as you navigate your way through decision processes.
Progressive
Health Coaching by its very nature is not a field indicated as a one-time visit. From session to session, we work with you to assess where you are, where you’d like to be, and how we’ll get there, and we continue to deepen that focal area and broaden into other parts of your life over the course of time. After all, you are a masterpiece, and a masterpiece is perfected stroke by stroke, right?
Coaching Formats

Private, 1-1 sessions are perhaps most common structures in functional medicine health coaching. Here the coach and client partner over time through ongoing sessions to support any overall wellness needs and goals. These sessions are in most cases done virtually, via Zoom video and audio technology, and frequency can vary from once a week to once every several weeks, based on the client’s specific desires.
An a la carte or Pat-by-session model is best for clients just dipping a toe into health coaching, or those unsure of how often they would like to interact with a coach. Package plans are a great option for those deciding to commit to an ongoing coaching relationship. These are priced on a sliding scale, according to number of sessions committed, and are often rolled into larger offerings or group programs that include additional benefits (see below).

Group sessions can be a great way to incorporate coaching, community and a lot of fun, all while working toward a specific wellness goal. We at Will Daniel Wellness plan to launch and facilitate quite a few group workshops, with topics ranging from dropping the cheese puffs to cultivating a tradition of me time. Everyone the group will be on the same page, in the same game, with the same goals and challenges. And to boot, Zoom online meetings make it look like we’re all part of the Brady Bunch.
Group sessions are highly economical. When you sign on to a workshop, you get access to group-only information relevant to the specific program, which may include articles, vlogs and other communications, a closed Slack channel for chatting with your group mates, individual coaching sessions and group online jams. Program prices vary depending on the offering.
